Funeral services for John Wayne Hall 89, were held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 16, 2024, at South Seminole Baptist Church in Seminole, under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home, Seminole officiated by Rev. Tony Pitcox. Family and friends visitation was held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole.

Alta Marie Anderson Bowers

A memorial service for Alta Marie Anderson Bowers, age 80 of Seagraves were held Saturday May 11, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Boyer Funeral Home in Seminole, with Pastor Randa Reeves officiating. Marie was born September 9, 1943 in Brownfield to John and Jewel Anderson of Plains. She was the fourth child of five, and she grew up in Plains, where she graduated from high school. After graduation, Marie went to work for GTE Phone Company in Brownfield as an operator. She went on to become one of the first female coin collectors for GTE. Marie married and had her daughter Helen on May 18, 1966. Helen was Marie’s main focus for many years. Marie spent many weekends and summer days taking her daughter Helen and three nieces to many events like The Harlem Globetrotters and to Elvis Presley in concert. Many people believed all four were her children.

Memorial services for Edward Boyd Dean, 81, of Denver City, Texas, were held at First Baptist Church in Denver City on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 1:00 P.M., with visitation from 10:00 am. to 11:00 pm at the First Baptist Church. Arrangements were under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home in Denver City, Texas with Rev. Kyle Streun officiating. Boyd passed away on April 2, 2024, in Lubbock. Boyd was born to Henry Harild Dean and Mildred Lorene McNew Dean on October 15, 1942, in Lamesa, Texas. He attended college at Franks Phillips in Borger. On June 3, 1968, he married Pat Leona McDonald, in Seminole.

SEAGRAVES -- Funeral services for Thomas Woodard McKinzie, 89, of Seagraves will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2024 in the First Baptist Church of Seagraves with Rev. Dan Reynolds officiating. Interment following in the Gaines County Memorial Cemetery in Seminole under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Seagraves. Woody passed away on Monday May 6, 2024 in Terry County. Woody was a member of First Baptist Church and had resided in Seagraves since 1950. He was employed by Southwestern Public Service for 15 years before opening McKenzie Insurance in 1978 till retirement in 2021. He was also co-owner of Five Points Gin and an avid golfer.

Aganetha Peters

Funeral services for Aganetha Peters, age 63 of Seminole were held Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Old Colony Mennonite Church with Pastor Neil Fehr officiating. Burial followed at Gaines County Cemetery. All services were under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home. Mrs. Peters was born in Mexico to Aganetha (Funk) and Abram Klassen. She married Abram Peters in Seminole on May 2, 1993. She was a homemaker and a member of Old Colony Mennonite Church. Aganetha was a hard working woman and a wonderful provider for her daughter. She enjoyed drinking her coffee and planting trees. She accepted her son-in-law as her own son and called her grandson Waylon her sunshine.

William Trenton (Trent) Stradley

Trent Stradley passed from this life to be with his Lord and Savior on April 26th, 2024, in Seminole, Texas. Trent was born in Burkburnett, Texas on April 10th, 1934, to Dora (Micky) and K.R. Stradley. He grew up in Hobbs, New Mexico and graduated from Hobbs High School class of 1952. He briefly attended Texas Tech University but dropped out to marry the love of his life Mary Beth Walker in 1954. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Francisco Roybal

Memorial services for Francisco Roybal, age 76 of Seminole will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Fraternal Order of Eagles in Espanola, New Mexico with John Roybal officiating. Burial will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Santa Fe Veterans Memorial Cemetery. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home. Mr. Roybal was born November 16, 1947 in Santa Fe, New Mexico to Grace (Dean) and Francis Roybal. He married Priscilla Montaño in Santa Fe on March 12, 1965. He was a Catholic and had worked as a manufacturing supervisor. Francisco enjoyed being involved with coaching kids in baseball and football. He was always involved with his family; he was considered the emotional and financial supporter of his own family as well as his extended family, always making sure everyone was cared for and comfortable. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping and fishing.

Jack Lavender 69, of Seminole passed away on April 18, 2024, in Amarillo. Jackie Ben Lavender was born on August 31, 1954, in Memphis to Bill and Vern Lavender.

Cora Ann Nix

A memorial and celebration of life service will be held in Matador this Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church - Fellowship Hall from 11:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m. Cora Ann Nix, 89, of Kingston, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023. Cora Ann, the eldest of four daughters, was born on Wednesday, July 11, 1934, to Johnnie Daniel and Opal Irene Craven in Matador. After Cora Ann graduated from Brownwood High School in 1951, she went on to study at Texas Tech.
