MIDLAND-- It went about as well as it could have for the Seminole tennis team at the District 3-4A Championships. Battling high temperatures and breezy conditions, the Indians and Maidens both won their respective crowns and combined to win the overall title Wednesday and Friday at the Bush Tennis Center in Midland.

The Seminole baseball team will face Perryton in the bi-district playoffs Coach Chris Gonzales’ squad is set for a bestof- 3 series against the Rangers at Floydada High School. Game 1 is scheduled for 2 p.m.

PLAINVIEW-- The Seminole softball team, in the end, didn’t have enough firepower or experience. Heart, talent, competitiveness, however, were overflowing.

By Lee Scheide Sports Editor LUBBOCK-- Athletes prepare for years for the one moment when everything falls into place on the biggest stage. For a pair of Seminole track and field athletes, it happened on what possibly was their final day in school colors.

The Andrews baseball team had a two-run lead, thanks to a hanging breaking ball, and Seminole head coach Chris Gonzales waited for his team’s response. He didn’t have to wait long.

LUBBOCK-- The Seminole boy’s and girl’s track teams each will have someone to cheer at the UIL Class 4A State Track and Field Championships. Landry Reames and Ava Olivas both qualified for the annual event at Mike A.

LUBBOCK-- The Seminole girl’s golf team booked its return trip to Kingsland. Carding rounds of 313-324—637, the Maidens finished third at the Regional I-4A Championships on April 17-18 at Shadow Hills Golf Course in Lubbock.

PECOS-- The crowning moment came a game later than the Seminole baseball team had hoped for … but it did happen. Obed Reyes, Bryan Hernandez and Stephen Davis all drove in two runs to lead the Indians to a 9-7 victory in District 3-4A action on Friday.

The Seminole softball team gets its postseason run underway this week. Seminole will face Dumas in a best-of-3 bi-district matchup beginning Friday at Plainview High School.

LEVELLAND-- There are going to be plenty of area athletes at the UIL Class 1A State Track and Field Championships. Both the Loop girl’s track team and the Seagraves boy’s squad will be represented at Mike A.
