Gaines Co., Permian Basin Counties Under Heat Advisory Monday

June 11, 2018

MIDLAND — A Heat Advisory is in effect for Gaines County, as well as a vast majority of the Permian Basin region, according to the latest information from the National Weather Service.

“It will be very hot today with highs exceeding 100 degrees everywhere except the higher elevations of the Guadalupe and Davis Mountains,” said NWS Midland forecasters on their agency’s website. “This will increase the risk of heat stress and a Heat Advisory has been issued for much of the area.”

Forecasters are calling for a high of 105 for the Seminole community on Monday, with south winds of 5-to-10 mph early in the day. Winds will shift out of the northeast in the afternoon. The overnight low is anticipated to be near 70 degrees.
