Our loving mother, Manuela “Nellie” Marquez, who loved to be called “Nanny” by all, departed this earth to her heavenly home on March 22, 2024. Nellie was born to Isabell Estrada in Oxnard, CA on November 19, 1948. She married Concepcion Marquez, December 8, 1966, in Oxnard, CA. Nellie was a loving mother to Maria Becerra Marquez, Jose Luis, Irma Perez Marquez and Hector, Jimmy Marquez, Terry Marquez ; April, Rudy Marquez, Laura Brown and Justin, Michelle Escalante and David, and she was a “Nanny” to 13 grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren.

Together Nellie and Concepcion created a life on the farm in Seminole. Nellie worked for 20 plus years as a compassionate caretaker for various people of the community and worked for Nurses Unlimited for 15 years. She greeted everyone she knew with her infectious smile and contagious laugh. She never knew a stranger. Nellie was a Christian and loved the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Concepcion Marquez, her mother, Isabell Estrada, and three brothers, Simon, David, and Valentine, and one daughter-in-law, Patricia Marquez. She has one living brother, Jose Espinoza.

Services were held at Templo Nazareth in Seminole on Monday, March 25, 2024, at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hope and Healing Center/Seminole can be made in Nellie Marquez’ name.
