Joy Setser, 91

Joy L. (Foster) Setser, age 91 of Seminole, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Memorial Health Care Center in Seminole. The family has chosen not to schedule services at this time. Mrs. Setser had been a Seminole resident since 2005, moving from Cloudcroft, New Mexico. Boyer Funeral Home considers it a great honor when called upon to serve.

Joy was born February 13, 1927 in Eden to Myrtle (Johnson) and Richard Foster. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Joy married Jack Setser on June 6, 1948 in Levelland and earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Texas Tech University. She was an elementary school teacher for 16 years, teaching grades three, five, and six; she taught fifth grade for Seminole I.S.D. for five years. She worked as the bookkeeper for their business, Pecan Development Company, which planted 1500 acres of pecan trees near Quemado. She also created the library in Quemado, and was the librarian for ten years.

Mrs. Setser had a variety of interests. She was an avid reader, a very good artist, and loved doing  needlework. She was an excellent seamstress as well. She collected owls, and she loved Elvis Presley, accumulating a vast collection of rare Elvis memorabilia over her lifetime.

Joy Foster Setser is preceded in death by her husband Jack in 1993; three brothers, and one sister. She is survived by one daughter, Linda George and husband Charles of Seminole; two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
