Funeral services for Jesse “Butch” Ragsdale, age 80 of Seminole will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Trinity Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Hospice Chaplain Josh McLemore officiating. Burial will follow at Gaines County Cemetery. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.

Mr. Ragsdale was born January 29, 1944 in Littlefield to Nada (Cooper) and William Carmera Ragsdale.

He married Carol Jane Stewart in Seminole on November 22, 1963. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He worked a salesman at Adkins Supply selling oilfield equipment; he loved to work a deal. Butch was a heck of a musician; he played the steel guitar as well as other instruments and enjoyed playing in a band. He started Seminole Trade Days in 2006 and B&J RV Park in 2011. He enjoyed dancing, fishing, and camping; he also liked wood working, restoring furniture and antiques. Butch loved all children, always taking them for ice cream; he was generally loved and was a good friend to all, always willing to help anyone. He was definitely a social butterfly, as well as a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.

Butch Ragsdale passed away at his home in Seminole Wednesday, March 27, 2024.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Janie Ragsdale in 2014, and one brother.

He is survived by one son, Doug Ragsdale and wife Christina of Gardendale; one daughter, Stacey Ragsdale of Seminole; two brothers, Bud Ragsdale of Abilene and David Ragsdale of Seminole; one sister, Nadine Kidd of Seminole; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
