Indians’ Moore Named 2017 District MVP

Four members of the Seminole Indian varsity boys basketball team and three Seminole Maidens earned District 2-4A postseason honors, as 2017 All-District Teams were recently released by district coaches.

For the Maidens, junior post Ashlea Pool was named the 2017 District 2-4A Co-Player of the Year, along with Levelland’s Mari Ruiz in voting conducted by District 2-4A girls coaches upon the completion of the 2017 District 2-4A regular season in early February.…

Basketball: Buzzer Beater Knocks Indians Out of 4A State Tournament Quest

LUBBOCK — Midlothian Heritage’s Kerrion Fields drove three-quarters of the length of the Rip Griffin Center’s court and connected on a contested three-point field goal attempt as time expired to clinch a 56-55 Class 4A Region I title game victory.

However, in the 4.5 seconds it took Fields to convert the feat, it appeared the Seminole Indians would be punching the program’s tenth state tournament ticket — and the first since the late 1990s — thanks in part to a Carter Johnson dribble-drive jumper near the middle of the charity stripe and converted on his ensuing free throw which gave the Indians a 55-53 lead in the game’s closing seconds.…

Seminole Punches Regional Tournament Berth Following 58-41 Win Over Lamesa Tuesday

LUBBOCK — After a roughly eight year hiatus, the Seminole Indian basketball program will make a return to the “Sweet 16” round of the University Interscholastic League’s basketball tournament format.

Behind 19 points and seven rebounds from junior forward Clayton Medlin and another 12 points and 19 boards from junior post Reese Moore, the Indians secured a Class 4A, Region I tournament berth with a 58-41 Regional Quarterfinal win over District 2-4A rival Lamesa in play held Tuesday evening at Lubbock Christian University’s Rip Griffin Center.…

Seminole HS Alum Named to NCBWA Weekly Honor

LUBBOCK — Lubbock Christian University outfielder Caleb Koedyker has earned the first National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) South Central Region Hitter of the Week honors for games played from Feb. 13 – Feb. 19.

Koedyker, a senior outfielder from Seminole,  had a solid series last against No.8 Angelo State, registering a .500 batting average, which included a trio of home runs and a double for a 1.214 slugging mark and eight runs driven in.…
