SHS Volleyball ‘Boot Camp’ Scheduled June 18-20

The Seminole High School volleyball program will be hosting a summer “boot camp” June 18-20 for all incoming seventh through 12th graders of the 2018-19 school year.

Cost of the camp is $65 per player.

Camp forms for those interested in participating in the camp, which prepares players for the approaching 2018 fall season, can be obtained through SHS head volleyball coach Traci Pierce.…

Baseball: Indians Fall to Denver City, 20-6

DENVER CITY — The Seminole Indians found themselves in a hole early.

A hole they couldn’t dig themselves out of, as the Denver City Mustangs routed the Indians 20-6 to inch the Tribe one loss closer to being mathematically eliminated from 2018 postseason contention.

The Mustangs pounded out 16 hits and took advantage of five Indian defensive errors on Tuesday evening, as they took a 4-0 lead after the first inning of play and posted 10 runs in the bottom of the second inning to seal the game’s fate early.…

Softball: Maidens Secure 2018 Postseason Berth with 13-1 Win Over Denver City

DENVER CITY — The District 2-4A wins continue to roll in for the Seminole Maidens.

A trend which saw the Maidens secure a berth for the 2018 Class 4A postseason, as SHS defeated the Denver City Fillies 13-1 in District 2-4A play held Tuesday evening at the Yoakum County Park.

Seminole (18-10-2 overall, 7-0 in 2-4A) saw home runs from power hitters Alicia Rosales and Jodie Vaughn, as well as extra base hits from Abby Bandy, Mireya Diaz and Carolina Martinez as they pounded the Fillies for a total of 12 hits in the run-rule shortened contest.…

Seminole ISD to Host Free Athletic Physicals May 9

Athletic physicals for Seminole ISD Student athletes wishing to participate in the 2018-19 athletic seasons will be conducted on Wednesday, May 9 at 3 p.m. at the Seminole High School campus.  

According to a press release from Seminole ISD Athletic Dept. officials, student athletes (incoming 7th through 12th graders) will need to wear their workout clothes (shorts and t-shirt) for the physical process.…

SHALLOWATER — The 2018 edition of the Seminole Indians are off to a 4-1 start, which included a 13-12 win over Class 4A Pre-Season No. 1 Abilene Wylie, following tournament play held last weekend at the 2018 Railyard Classic hosted by Shallowater High School.

Softball: Vaughn Tosses Perfect Game, Records 12Ks Against Kermit

MIDLAND — Seminole senior Jodie Vaughn issued perfection inside the pitcher’s circle Saturday afternoon against Class 2A Kermit, as she struck out 12 batters in five innings pitched, as she helped lead the Maiden softball team to an 11-0 victory in play at the 2018 West Texas Softball Classic.

Vaughn threw just 60 pitches, 47 of which for strikes, while facing the minimum 15 batters in the run-ruled shortened game.…
