Texas begins special session highlighted by ‘bathroom bill’

AUSTIN (AP) — A special legislative session in Texas ordered by Republican Gov. Greg Abbott began Tuesday with loud protests over a revived “bathroom bill” targeting transgender people, renewed hostilities about a crackdown on immigration and GOP infighting that could keep demands of influential social conservatives again out of reach.

Frustrations ratcheted quickly in a likely sign of things to come over the next 30 days, during which Abbott says he will be “establishing a list” of who’s with him and who’s not.…

2017 Indian Season Tickets Go On Sale July 31

Season tickets for the upcoming 2017 Seminole Indian varsity football season will go on sale beginning July 31 to last year’s option holders, according to information released by SISD Athletic Dept. officials on Tuesday.

Seminole EMS to Host Annual Golf Tournament July 7

Official: Russian hackers targeted Dallas voter registration

DALLAS (AP) — A top Texas elections official says Russian hackers attempted to access voter registration rolls in Dallas County before November’s presidential election.

County elections administrator Toni Pippins-Poole says the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in October alerted elections offices about some 600 IP addresses linked to Russian hackers.

She told The Dallas Morning News that Dallas County scanned county servers for those IP addresses — numeric designations that identify a location on the internet — and found 17 matches for hackers who tried to gain access.…
