  • Most folks don’t usually look forward to Mondays, but Texas dove hunters will be making an exception this year.

     The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is increasing DWI patrols through September 2, which includes the Labor Day holiday weekend.  
  • The number of rural jobs rose in May and June. The rural unemployment rate was more than a full percentage point lower than a year ago. 
  • Gaines County Library is excited to share a new quiz from the Pew Research Center’s Internet Project that will help us learn about the role Gaines County Library (GCL) plays in our community. 
  • The Economic Development Corporation took to Council chambers on Monday for a brief meeting that would outline its current plans to partner with the City of Seminole and the M.S. Doss Foundation to fund a proposed Splashpark at the City Park.  
  • Texas Comptroller Susan Combs reminds shoppers they can save money on certain items priced under $100 during the state's annual sales tax holiday. 
  •  Texas city's hearing on fracking ban to draw crowd
    A North Texas city could become the first in the state to ban hydraulic fracturing if city leaders approve a grassroots petition to outlaw the drilling method.
