4-H to Sponsor Hunter Education Course

There will be a Hunter Education Course held Monday thru Tuesday, August 29-30, 2016 at the Texas A & M AgriLife Extension Service/Gaines County Extension Office.

Every hunter (including out-of-state hunters) born on or after Sept. 2, 1971, must successfully complete a Hunter Education Training Course to legally hunt in Texas.  Every person who wishes to hunt out-of-state must also complete this course.…

AAA: Seminole Gas Prices Remain 28-Cents Above Texas Average This Week

COPPELL (AP) — Retail gasoline prices in Texas and nationwide are up this week, according to a report from the Texas AAA.

The organization, on Thursday, reported the average price at the pump statewide rose 4 cents to reach $2.01 per gallon. Average gas prices across the U.S. jumped 7 cents per gallon to reach $2.20 per gallon.…

Local Education Non-Profit Begins Foundation Work

A group of local business and community leaders seeking to raise funds to enrich the offerings of the Seminole Independent School District through a recently formed non-profit foundation — the Seminole ISD Education Foundation — held their first organizational meeting this past week.

A meeting which saw the roughly 30 people in attendance — including all seven members of the Seminole ISD Board of Trustees — work through the particulars of the non-profit organization’s establishment process, by-laws and the purpose of the foundation.…

US economy grew at tepid 1.1 percent pace in spring

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. economy expanded at a sluggish pace this spring as businesses sharply reduced their stockpiles of goods and spent less on new buildings and equipment.

Police say man, 87, found dead along Texas cliff killed self

TEMPLE (AP) — Police say an 87-year-old man found dead along a more than 50-foot cliff near a Central Texas lake killed himself.

Temple police on Wednesday said preliminary autopsy results show Robert James McClure of Belton died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
